In every issue, Modern Aesthetics® magazine taps top cosmetic dermatologists to ask about the newest cosmeceuticals that they are offering to patients. Here, Carolyn Jacob, MD, FAAD, medical director of Chicago Cosmetic Surgery and Dermatology, gives us the scoop on Alastin’s newest launch, INhance Post-Injection Serum.
What is INhance Post-Injection Serum?
Carolyn Jacob, MD: INhance is the latest breakthrough by Alastin, combining their TriHex technology with the patented power to reduce bruising quickly. It also reduces swelling by 175 percent in three days. We’ve been recommending it ever since we completed the trials on bruising, and patients love it.

How does it work?
Dr. Jacob: TriHex technology has the power to clean up fragmented collagen and elastic fibers, laying the perfect foundation for the formation of new collagen and elastic tissue. Arnica montana reduces inflammation and accelerates healing. Carotenoids modulate prostaglandin E2, thereby reducing swelling. Ledum palustre works in synergy with Arnica to reduce swelling and bruising. Xylitol and lactoferrin provide antimicrobial activity. While lactoferrin chelates iron to aid in removal of pigment seen in bruising. Phosphatidylserine removes hemosiderin pigment. Crosslinked hyaluronic acid leads to skin plumping and moisturization.
How do you suggest your patients use this product?
Dr. Jacob: I suggest they use it four times a day for five to 10 days, although most are clearing bruises in three to four days.
Can all injectable patients benefit?
Dr. Jacob: Absolutely, we apply it to all patients directly after their injections.
What type of results are your patients seeing with regular use in terms of bruising and swelling?
Dr. Jacob: They love the applicator tip, especially when using it on the lips. The rapid decrease in swelling allows them to get back to their normal schedule faster (i.e., Zoom meetings with the boss!)
Do you recommend any other products along with INhance Post-Injection Serum?
Dr. Jacob: Because of the rejuvenating properties of TriHex, we recommend patients use Alastin’s Restorative Skin Complex to the entire face, while INhance is applied to the injection sites. It’s a win-win combination.
