HOW AND WHEN DID YOU GET STARTED IN THE AESTHETICS FIELD?
I entered the aesthetics industry more than a decade ago because it combined everything that interested me most: medicine, innovation, consumer behavior, and business. Few industries evolve as quickly as aesthetics. New technologies, treatment categories, and patient expectations are constantly emerging, creating an environment that rewards curiosity and continuous learning.
Over the years, I have worked closely with physicians, clinic owners, manufacturers, educators, and industry leaders across the country. That experience has provided a unique perspective on how the industry has evolved and where it is heading.
One of the most significant changes has been the patient. Today’s consumers arrive far more informed than they did 10 years ago. They research treatments, compare providers, follow experts online, and often enter consultations with a strong understanding of their options. As a result, education, communication, and trust have become more important than ever.
WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR MENTORS WHO HAVE INFLUENCED YOU IN YOUR CAREER AND HOW?
I have learned from many successful physician founders, entrepreneurs, and business leaders. While their backgrounds varied, the most effective leaders shared common characteristics.
They understood that success requires more than expertise alone. Clinical excellence matters, but leadership, vision, discipline, and consistency are equally important. The strongest leaders also remained lifelong learners. They continued investing in education, stayed open to new ideas, and adapted as the industry changed around them.
Another lesson that has stayed with me is the importance of thinking long term. Sustainable growth is built through reputation, patient trust, and a commitment to delivering value over time.
WHAT DO SUCCESSFUL CLINICS NEED TO DO NOW TO THRIVE IN THIS COMPETITIVE MARKET?
Competition is higher than ever, and patients have more choices than ever before.
The clinics that thrive today have a clear identity. They know who they serve, what they do best, and how they differentiate themselves. Rather than trying to appeal to everyone, they focus on creating a strong and consistent patient experience.
One misconception is that growth comes primarily from purchasing the latest device. New technology can be valuable, but technology alone does not build a successful clinic. The highest-performing clinics understand patient acquisition, retention, communication, and treatment planning.
Patients are also looking for guidance rather than individual procedures. They want providers who can help them understand how treatments work together to achieve their goals. Education and trust are becoming just as important as the treatments themselves.
Patient experience remains a major differentiator. Every interaction matters, from the first phone call through post-treatment follow-up. Patients expect convenience, responsiveness, transparency, and personalized care.
WHAT SAGE ADVICE CAN YOU OFFER WOMEN WHO ARE RISING STARS IN AESTHETICS?
One lesson I have learned is that expertise alone does not create influence.
Many talented professionals hesitate to share their knowledge, despite having valuable insights and experience. My advice is simple: do not underestimate the value of what you know.
Speak at conferences, mentor others, contribute to industry discussions, and share your perspective. The future of aesthetics will be shaped by people who are willing to contribute ideas and help move the industry forward.
I also encourage women to invest in business knowledge alongside clinical education. Leadership, operations, finance, and marketing skills can create opportunities that extend far beyond patient care.
Most importantly, do not wait until you feel completely ready. Growth often begins outside your comfort zone.
WHERE IS THE MEDICAL AESTHETICS FIELD GOING IN THE SHORT AND LONG TERM?
In the short term, I believe combination therapies will continue to gain momentum. Patients increasingly understand that meaningful results often come from a customized treatment plan rather than a single procedure.
I also believe the connection between aesthetics and wellness will continue to strengthen. Patients are thinking more broadly about aging, longevity, body composition, energy, and overall quality of life. They view these goals as interconnected rather than separate conversations.
Long term, regenerative medicine has the potential to influence many areas of aesthetics. Interest continues to grow around exosomes, peptides, biostimulatory treatments, hair restoration, and therapies that support the body's natural repair processes.
Artificial intelligence will also play a larger role. Clinics will be able to better understand patient behavior, improve communication, streamline operations, and make more informed business decisions through data and analytics.
Perhaps the biggest shift is that consumers are becoming increasingly proactive. Prevention, maintenance, and long-term optimization are replacing the traditional approach of waiting to address concerns after they appear.
WHAT ARE SOME TIPS FOR HOW TO GET READY FOR THE FUTURE?
One of the most important things clinic owners can do is commit to ongoing education. The pace of change in aesthetics continues to accelerate, and staying informed will remain essential.
I also encourage clinics to spend as much time understanding patients as they do evaluating technology. Devices and trends will change, but understanding patient motivations will always be valuable.
Finally, invest in people. Strong teams create exceptional patient experiences. Clinics that prioritize training, leadership development, and culture often outperform those focused solely on technology. Above all, never lose sight of trust. Regardless of how the industry evolves, trust remains the foundation of every successful clinic.
