Tell-All Tribune Explores Most Important Topics in Aesthetic Medicine
The inaugural Tell-All Tribune: An Aesthetic Think Tank was held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from April 18-20, and could perhaps be summed up in six words from course director Shino Bay Aguilera, DO: “What we do goes beyond vanity."
Along with fellow course directors Michelle Henry, MD, FAAD, and Saami Khalifian, MD, Dr. Aguilera led three days of spirited discussions, cutting-edge debates, and high-level networking with luminaries, pioneers, and thought leaders from aesthetic medicine.
The event included six blocks of lectures and group discussions, each led by a block lead, and concluded with an industry discussion and panel.
Regenesis: The Art and Science of Advanced Aesthetic Renewal
Dr. Khalifian led a block on regenesis that included Dr. Aguilera; Kim Welch, MSN, NP-BC; Jennifer Pearlman, MD, CCFP, FAARM, ABAARM, NCMP, CFA; Saranya Wyles, MD, PhD; Greg Chernoff, MD, FRCSC; and Kay Durairaj, MD, FACS. Topics included stem cells, biochemical cues, scaffolds, biostimulation with polymicronutrients, Renuva, next-generation injectable fillers and biostimulators, exosome therapy, and blending scaffolds and biostimulators.
Essential Psychiatry for the Aesthetic Provider
Richard G. Fried, MD, PhD, led a block on psychology that included Aguilera; Julie Woodward, MD; and Joe Niamtu III, DMD. Topics included aging, mental health, unhappy patients, and patient selection.
Optimizing Outcomes and Avoiding Complications
Alexander Z. Rivkin, MD, led a block on avoiding complications that featured Henry; Michael Somenek, MD; Nowell Solish, MD, FRCP; and Wendy Lee, MD, MS. Topics included aspiration, laser considerations for darker skin tones, nonablative laser resurfacing, toxin injections, and ocular complications.
Surgical and Nonsurgical Treatments of the Head and Neck: From Filler to Facelift
Dr. Niamtu led a block on head and neck treatments that featured Dr. Aguilera; Steven F. Weiner, MD; Rivkin; Sheila Barbarino, MD, FACS; Dr. Woodward; and Dr. Lee. Topics included face and neck lifts, bruxism, ultrasound for injectables safety, nonsurgical rhinoplasty complications, combining thread lifting and filler injections, and vision loss with filler injections.
Anatomical Debates
David Saadat, MD, led a block on anatomical debates that featured head-to-head discussions of controversial topics. Drs. Saadat and Somenek debated the impact of nonsurgical procedures on facelifts; Dr. Woodward and Kevin Harrington, APRN, FNP-C, argued deep vs superficial temple injections; Drs. Rivkin and Chernoff discussed surgical vs nonsurgical rhinoplasty; and Drs. Barbarino and Khalifian covered lip lifts vs lip filler.
What Is Functional Aesthetics?
Azza Halim, MD, MS, led a block on functional aesthetics that featured Lesley Clark-Loeser, MD, FAAD; Dr. Pearlman; and Sara Mahdavi, BSc, HBSc, RD, MSc, PhD. Topics included epigenetics, biomarkers, and dermatonutrigenomics.
