SkinMedica Updates Packaging, Launches New HA5 Moisturizer

Allergan Aesthetics, a division of AbbVie, announced a comprehensive redesign of its SkinMedica® product packaging aimed at improving user experience and reducing environmental impact. The updated packaging includes a modernized logo, copper accents, and simplified design elements to enhance product navigation and clarity.
According to the company, 90% of the packaging components by weight are now recyclable, and 100% of secondary cartons, reducing landfill waste by an estimated 71% annually (over 550,000 pounds). The redesign also includes upgrades to SkinMedica’s TNS® Advanced+ Serum, which now features a dual-pump system for improved consistency and dispensing.
Coinciding with the packaging overhaul is the launch of the HA5® Hydra Collagen Water Burst Moisturizer—a topical hydrator formulated with a proprietary blend of 5 forms of hyaluronic acid and vegan collagen, as well as a microbiome barrier complex designed to support skin hydration and resilience.
The formulation is intended to deliver up to 24-hour hydration and increase moisture levels by 25% after a single application, according to a press release.
"Most people experience dry skin at some point, but the issue can become more pronounced with age. As natural levels of hyaluronic acid and collagen decline, and nutrient flow between skin layers slows, the skin's ability to retain moisture diminishes," said Dr. Mona Gohara, a board-certified dermatologist. "While many moisturizers offer temporary relief, the SkinMedica® HA5® Hydra Collagen Water Burst Moisturizer goes further—delivering up to 24 hours of hydration and boosting moisture levels by 25% after a single application. It is a meaningful new option I can share with patients seeking dewy, resilient, and healthy-looking skin."
SkinMedica® products, including Even & Correct Advanced Brightening Treatment and AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser, will begin transitioning to the new packaging, with full implementation expected within 1 year.
