Active Concepts introduced ACB Sal-Vation as an alternative to salicylic acid. It’s made up of benzoic acid, naturally found in prunes, and succinic acid, naturally found in sugar beets. 

Benzoic acid shares similarities with salicylic acid in its lipophilic nature which allows it to remove intercellular lipids and successfully exfoliate the skin, according to the company.

The antimicrobial and antifungal benefits makes it effective in combating acne and other skin infections. 

It’s suitable for sensitive skin types because of anti-inflammatory properties found in succinic acid and it promotes collagen synthesis. Whereas the company notes salicylic acid involves chemical exfoliation and can cause skin sensitivity.
