iS Clinical Executives Explain Impact of New Peel System

04/29/2025

The next evolution of iS Clinical’s Active Peel System is the iS Clinical Extra Strength Active Peel Brightening System, which launched this week exclusively through authorized iS Clinical professionals nationwide, the company announced. The system’s professional-grade results include three times the brightening and exfoliating power of the previous version, and the treatment visibly resurfaces and brightens the skin’s appearance while providing advanced hydration and minimizing the appearance of fine lines to renew the look of skin tone and texture.

Modern Aesthetics spoke with clinical director Charlene DeHaven, MD, FACEP, and president and CEO Bryan Johns about the launch.

What’s the story behind the creation of this product?
Bryan Johns:
The Extra Strength Active Peel Brightening System was created to deliver clinically validated results through cutting-edge skincare innovation. Building on the success of our award-winning Active Peel System, we saw an opportunity to develop an even brighter, stronger, and more transformative two-step treatment—designed for both skincare professionals and their clients. Engineered to meet the growing demand for powerful at-home solutions that replicate professional results, this advanced formula reflects our commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation by combining proven formulation technology with next-generation exfoliation and brightening power.

What is the science behind it?

Dr. Charlene DeHaven: As usual, iS Clinical has employed the newest ingredient science and formulation technology to create this product. Step 1 contains approximately three times the resurfacing acids as our original Active Peel System, so it is very powerful. However, the regenerative ability of Step 2 is really incredible. Step 2 is loaded with active ingredients that target the following processes or belong to these ingredient classes: brighteners, antioxidants, exosomes, telomere protectors, mitochondrial energy agents, hydration and skin barrier support,, collagen synthesis, DNA protection from environmental stressors, and wrinkle reduction.

How many months or years of research went into developing it?
Bryan Johns:
The creation of this breakthrough two-step system was a continuation of more than 20 years of cumulative expertise in product innovation, focusing on cutting-edge botanical, topical, and genetic sciences. Throughout the R&D process, extensive scientific validation, independent clinical studies, and user trials were conducted to ensure that the formula not only met but exceeded expectations for efficacy and performance. The result is a two-step treatment system that provides professional peel results for both immediate and long-term skin benefits.

What differentiates it from other peel options?

Dr. Charlene DeHaven: It is very powerful, yet extremely well tolerated by all skin tones and Fitzpatrick types. Because it is best recommended with the professional guidance of a skincare expert, and as a way for iS Clinical to support our professional partners, it is sold exclusively through our skincare professionals and never online.

Bryan Johns: This Extra Strength formula delivers three times the brightening and exfoliating power of our award-winning Active Peel System. It provides both immediate and long-term benefits through a precisely balanced two-step process: Step 1 resurfaces with potent botanical acids for visible skin renewal, while Step 2 delivers deep hydration and calming protection with our proprietary Extremozymes® technology and Copper Tripeptide-1. The result is a visibly brighter, smoother, and more youthful-looking complexion—without compromising skin comfort. Exclusively available through iS Clinical professionals, this advanced system sets a new benchmark in clinical-strength home peel treatments.

Is this intended to be an all-in-one solution, or can it be used in combination with other skincare treatments as part of an overall regimen?

Dr. Charlene DeHaven: It's an excellent addition to combine in-office as part of existing treatment protocols, to use in the design of bespoke clinical treatments designed for the unique individual under the advice and care of skincare professionals, and also as recommended for at-home use in a number of ways and for various skin conditions—from acne to aging to pigmentation concerns.

Who is the ideal patient for this product?

Dr. Charlene DeHaven: Extra Strength Active Peel Brightening System can be incorporated into a regimen for almost any client and for any skin tone or type. We do not recommend it for active, uncontrolled inflammatory conditions such as rosacea that is flaring up or not yet well-managed. However, it is suitable for acne, which also involves an inflammatory process.

Is there anything else our readers should know?

Dr. Charlene DeHaven: Few companies are able to develop a peel system that balances professional-level efficacy with such a high degree of tolerability, whether used in-office or at home.
