Dr. Jason Bloom Shares Latest Innovations from Korean Skincare on Philadelphia Newscast
Korean skincare, also known as K-Beauty, has become increasingly popular in the United States as Americans look to achieve “glass” skin. Social media, particularly TikTok, has played a large role in promoting K-Beauty lines and products.
Jason Bloom, MD, is the founder of Bloom Facial Plastic Surgery in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He recently took a trip to South Korea to find out more about the products taking the country by storm.
“Korean skincare and beauty is just getting huge, it’s really the center of the skincare [and] beauty world right now,” Dr. Bloom said on Fox 29’s Good Day Philadelphia.
Dr. Bloom explains that one of the bigger ingredients used in Korean Beauty polydeoxyribonucleotide, or PDRN.
“It’s produced from the sperm of either salmon or rainbow trout and it’s little bits of DNA that help for skin healing and turnover, it helps decrease inflammation, decrease redness, and even the product of melanin and pigment,” Dr. Bloom said.
By using this at-home treatment mask, patients can help with the turnover of the skin.
PDRN is an active ingredient in Rejuran’s Turnover Mask, which is a top choice among the Bloom Facial Plastic Surgery team.
The DNA that’s in the PDRN is about 95% similar to human DNA, which means when used topically human cells can utilize the product.
Dr. Bloom said his trip to South Korea was an effort to connect with Korean Beauty companies and evaluate the development of the products.
