British Parliament Member Calls for BBLs to Be Suspended
British Member of Parliament Dr. Simon Opher called for the suspension of Brazilian butt lift (BBL) procedures until more is known about their safety, following the death of a 33-year-old woman, the BBC reported.
Alice Webb, a mother of five, underwent a nonsurgical BBL before falling unwell and later dying at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, the BBC said. Two people have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.
Dr. Opher, a physician, told the BBC that the incident was "absolutely tragic.”
“We don’t know what happened in this case, but looking at the statistics around BBL and the use of fillers, I think we should suspend these until we know they are safe,” Dr. Opher said. “I would advise anyone not to go through with this procedure until we can investigate what happened.”
