Aesthetic Treatments Becoming More Popular Among Men, AAFPRS Data Shows
While most patients for aesthetic treatments and procedures are women, men are beginning to embrace the industry, according to new data from the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Men continue to surpass women when it comes to hair transplantation. Among AAFPRS members whose work is at least 50% Facial Plastic Surgery and Perform the Procedure, 72% of hair transplantations patients in 2024 were men, increasing from 58% in 2023.
Earlier this year, Modern Aesthetics was at the Octane Aesthetics Tech Forum and learned treatment for hair restoration is seeing promising advancements.
Another area where male patients are growing is blepharoplasty and neurotoxins. The AAFPRS reports data in blepharoplasty procedures being equal among both genders rose 1% to 12% in 2024, and in neurotoxins it rose 3% to 59%.
Rhinoplasty remains the top surgical procedure performed on men, followed by blepharoplasty and facelifts or partial facelifts. For the second consecutive year, facelifts have risen past Revision Surgery and Otoplasty as the third most common surgical procedure performed on men.
Among both men and women, the top three surgical procedures in 2024 were Rhinoplasties, Facelifts or Partial Facelifts, and Blepharoplasties. For non-surgical procedures, the top three were neurotoxins, fillers, and skin treatments.
