Updates on Aesthetic Meeting Cancellations Due to COVID-19
In an attempt to help slow the continuing spread of the COVID-19 virus, many industry societies have cancelled or postponed conferences.
The Aesthetics Meeting 2020 has postponed its meeting, which was scheduled to start on April 25 in Las Vegas. Find more inforamtion about the postponement, click here. In a letter posted to colleagues on the meeting's website, Charles H. Thorne, MD, noted, " the health and safety of our registrants and staff remain our primary concern."
The 2020 AAFPRS Spring Meeting, which was set to take place April 23–24, in Atlanta, GA, has also be cancelled. The meeting was scheduled to be held in conjunction with the Combined Otolaryngology Spring Meetings or “COSM”, which was also canceled. In an email to registrants, Mary Lynn Moran, MD, AAFPRS President, explained, "Due to the growing number of COVID-19 cases across the U.S. and around the world, the potential risks associated with large gatherings, and the implementation of several current travel advisories and restrictions, the AAFPRS Foundation has made the decision to cancel the 2020 AAFPRS Spring Meeting—and, the AAFPRS Foundation in conjunction with the other COSM Societies all unanimously agreed to not move forward with this year’s overall COSM meeting." According to the email, the 2020 AAFPRS Spring Meeting registration fees will be fully refunded automatically. To learn more, Dr. Moran suggested visiting COSM FAQ website here. The AAFPRS says it will contine to actively monitor the COVID-19 situation as it pertains to the AAFPRS Advances in Rhinoplasty Meeting May 14-17.
