More and More and More minimal to non-invasive treatments for the NECK
“I look in the mirror and what do I see? The neck that is there shouldn't belong to me!”
Non-invasive to minimally invasive treatments for the neck continue to evolve with new treatment options coming fast and furious. Initially we had traditional liposuction alone (which, by the way, still works very well) to reduce the excess submental fat and give some limited skin contraction.
Now we have new non-invasive methods to melt submental fat, including the newly FDA approved injectable deoxycholic acid Kybella (Kythera Biopharmaceuticals), a new CoolSculpting submental applicator, a variety of contact RF devices including Exilis (BTL) with surface cooling to melt fat, and Ultherapy.
In the minimally invasive category, ThermiTight (ThermiRF platform) is performed with a needle puncture for insertion of the RF probe. Additional submental fat reduction can be performed with Laser assisted lipo fibers such as Precision (Cynosure) or with small Vaser UAL assistance.
Neck skin tightening and improvement in skin quality can be affected by a variety of non- to minimally-invasive technologies. Many of the previously mentioned technologies will give skin tightening as well as fat reduction, including Ultherapy, as well as external radiofrequency devices such as Inmode, Viora, Ellman, ThermiRF, and many more. Fractional Bipolar RF systems such as Endymed Intensif™, Lutronic INFINI™, Invasix Fractora™, Syneron Candela ePrime™, and others have demonstrated efficacy in neck skin tightening, improvement in skin quality, and lessening of wrinkles. Fillers that can be placed in the mid-to-superficial dermis such as Belotero, Restylane Silk, or Juvederm can be injected to lessen horizontal neck lines, and even very dilute PLLA has some advocates for this use.
Phew… Now if we only just had a good, non-invasive answer for those pesky platymal bands!
Neotensil
Talk about short-lived products! Neotensil, the non-surgical, short-acting lower eyelid bag eraser, is off the market. This winner of Allure Magazine's “Best of Beauty Breakthrough 2014” award will no longer be manufactured by Living Proof. Coined the “SPANX” of under eye treatment, this product just got spanked out of the skin care arena.
