Skincare Is Going to Be ‘Huge’ in 2025, Dr. Lanna Cheuck Says

02/05/2025

The new year is in full swing and so are new year’s resolutions. For practitioners, this may include seeing an uptick in patients wanting to enhance their skincare routines to find the perfect regime for their skin.

But where to start? Lanna Cheuck, DO, FACS, says someone who is looking to heal their skin from within to bring that youthfulness to their face needs a skin analysis.

“The first place to start is to get a really comprehensive exam of what your skin looks like in depth,” Dr. Cheuck said. “Once you get that 3D skin analysis, then I think you have to see what problems you have and then see what the solutions are, and then match that to your goals.”

In an effort to attain glass-like, youthful skin, Dr. Cheuck tipped us off on what she foresees for 2025.

“The things that I see really blowing up in 2025 are PDRN, polynucleotides, and anything that gives you faster healing, regeneration, and more collagen building,” she said. “I see a lot of energy-based devices for 2025 to get that skin looking amazing, tighter, decreased pores. I’m seeing regular microneedling make a comeback.”

Korean Beauty, or K-Beauty, products have also been on the rise in the United States.

“I’m also seeing a lot of beauty trends from Korea, and sheet masks and things that can really absorb through your skin transdermally by giving the right molecular size for the best absorption,” Dr. Cheuck added.

A passion for learning about Korean Beauty led Dr. Cheuck to conduct her own market research to determine the 10 top products that fly off the shelves at Olive Young stores.

“Sheet masks are huge,” Dr. Lanna explained. “They also have something, it's actually not even for skincare, but it flies off the shelf. It's also for sexual health. A lot of women have a lot of vaginal dryness, so now they have something over the counter that's like hyaluronic acid that is like an intravaginal suppository that you could just kind of use topically intravaginally for replenishing that hydration and that dryness. I think that's going to be big. The SPF is amazing. They have SPF 50 plus plus plus, so it's like UV, A, B, C, all the things.”

Dr. Cheuck added that better transdermal absorption means sunscreen only needs to be applied once daily rather than every 4 hours.
