NEW APPLICATORS AND INDICATIONS FOR NON-INVASIVE FAT REMOVERS FOR OUTER AND INNER THIGHS

With the CoolSculpting device now FDA-approved to treat thighs, Zeltiq recently introduced CoolSmooth, a flat applicator that can be applied to areas that are resistant to “pinching,” such as the outer thighs, upper abdomen, and even the arms. The inner thighs can also be addressed with the CoolFit applicator, launched last year, which has a flat-vacuum applicator design. The new applicators allow treatment on these areas that previously could not be addressed effectively.



VALEANT PHARMACEUTICALS AS OWNERS OF FORMER MEDICIS PRODUCTS AND SCULPTRA

Valeant Pharmaceuticals International sold the rights to its skin fillers (Restylane, Perlane, and Emervel), as well Sculptra and its neurotoxin Dysport, to Nestle for $1.4 billion. Nestle recently acquired Galderma Laboratories in February 2014, thus giving them entry into the aesthetic markets in the US and Canada. The deal allows Valeant Pharmaceuticals to increase their bid to take over Allergan, Inc. and removes potential antitrust issues. Stay tuned!
