New Cutera Survey Results Help Define Body Contouring Market

One third of Americans opt for body sculpting treatments to look better naked, according to a new survey from Cutera, Inc.

The survey results were released to coincide with the availability of truSculpt iD, a non-surgical body sculpting system that uses radiofrequency technology to target and permanently destroy fat. With real-time temperature control for consistent results, of truSculpt iD can produce an average fat reduction of 24 percent, with patients seeing improvements 6-12 weeks following the first treatment.

More than 50 percent of patients who receive a body-sculpting treatment are married, and those who exercise regularly are most likely to have a body-sculpting treatment, with runners and yoga-enthusiasts being the most common, the survey of 500 men and women showed.

What’s more, 37 percent of body-sculpting patients earn less than $50K/year.  Fully 73 percent of patients who complete a body sculpting treatment are likely to have another and 88 percent would recommend it to friends and family post-treatment, the survey found.

“Despite the rate of exercise among Americans rising, on average, 60 percent of women and 46 percent of men report a desire to lose weight. As consumers strive to achieve their desired body shape, many are turning to body-sculpting technology to get results,” says James Reinstein, President and CEO of Cutera, Inc., in a news release.  “We designed truSculpt iD with this in mind, by creating a treatment which accommodates patients of all skin types, sizes and physiques, including those previously excluded as candidates to utilize currently of available solutions.”
