The publishers of Practical Dermatology® and Modern Aesthetics® magazines are offering a sneak peek of the coming new season of the acclaimed video series, Ground Up, at Summer AAD in Chicago.

Ground Up Season 1 took viewers behind the scenes of Skin DC as Terrence Keaney, MD and Lina Naga, MD built out their new practice – warts and all. Ground Up was a finalist in the Digital Brand Extension category of Folio Digital Awards 2018 and received an honorable mention.

The second season promises to provide an up close and personal view of New York City dermatologist Melissa Kanchanapoomi Levin, MD and her team as they build a new practice in trendy Tribeca – from the ground up.

“Being a physician entrepreneur is very different from being just a dermatologist, and you really have to want it,” says Dr. Levin in the series’ opening. “I really wanted to create what I thought that dermatology should be in 2018. I really wanted to change patient experience, I wanted to do it the way that I envisioned it. “

Dr. Levin was previously the Director of Clinical Research at Marmur Medical on the Upper East Side as well as a private practice dermatologist at both Marmur Medical and Spring Street Dermatology in Soho, both practices in Manhattan.  She is a Clinical Assistant Attending Professor at New York University (NYU) Langone Medical Center and a Clinical Instructor at the Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine in the Department of Dermatology.

She earned her medical degree from the University of California of San Francisco, completing the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation International Clinical Research Fellowship, graduating as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.  After completing her internal medicine internship at the California Pacific Medical Center as the “Best Intern of the Year”, Dr. Levin trained at New York University Langone Medical Center, where she won awards for her research in laser surgery and received the Morris Leider Award as “the best all-around resident” for Excellence in Dermatology.
