New Jersey facial plastic surgeon Paul Carniol, MD, a board member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS), is the new President of the Board of Medical Examiners of the State of New Jersey.
The New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners is comprised of a select group of physicians and medical personnel from various specialties throughout the State of New Jersey, all of whom are appointed by the governor. The board’s mission is to protect the public's health and safety by determining qualifications of applicants for licensure, establishing standards for practice and disciplining licensees who do not adhere to those requirements. In addition, the Medical Board is responsible for overseeing the licensing and certification process for allied health care providers, including podiatrists, certified nurse midwives, acupuncturists, athletic trainers, bioanalytical lab directors, physician assistants, electrologists, hearing aid dispensers and perfusionists.
